BETTY HUTTON, 1973
















An odd but rare performance by Betty Hutton has been posted over at the Yahoo version of The Judy Garland Experience. The recording is from a mini concert she did in 1973 as her encore to a dinner theater production of Anything Goes.





Apparently Betty was fired from the show only moments before her encore, which would explain her emotional performance.

RADIO JUDY











Run, don't walk, to the Yahoo version of the Judy Garland experience, where this week there is an abundance of radio rarities from Judy. Judy is heard on The Bob Hope Pepsodent Show, Command Performance with Dinah Shore, Chase And Sanborn hour with Charlie McCarthy and an extremely rare performance from The Pause That Refreshes program.




Best of all, Judy doesn't merely sing, she performs in shetches and skits too!

JUDY ON GUARD AND ON BROADWAY




If you want to hear some more rare performances by Judy Garland be sure to stop by the Yahoo group where recently posted files include Judy's 1965 performance on the television show On Broadway Tonight (which features her performing with The Allen Brothers), and her Guard session with Martin Block which was recorded backstage at the Palace in August of 1967.

The radio drama stars Marlene Dietrich and Randolph Scott, and features John Wayne as the "Pitts."

COLE PORTER A TESTIMONIAL
















The ultra rare audio recording of a 1967 event at and for The Cole Porter Library at USC has been posted to the Yahoo group.





This black tie affair features performances by Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Ethel Memran, Fred Astaire, Jimmy Stewart, and Roger Edens at the piano, with hosting chores provided by Garson Kanin.

BIG MAYBELLE SMITH


This weeks installment of WHERE JUDY PLAYED features a blistering set from the legendary Big Maybelle Smith that was recorded at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival.

Judy's Final Recording Session, 1969
















Some Anita O'Day files have been posted to the Yahoo group, including a recording session she did with Judy Garland in June of 1969, which turned out to be Garland's final recording. Judy is in fine spirits, Anita is in her cups, and they are joined by Mickey Deans and Charlie Cochran who share piano duty.





There are also some clips from a 1959 O'Day concert, as well as a medley she performed with Chris Connor in the 80's.
