This photo is a bit unforgiving, but shows how hard she worked when performing. She was working with Mort Lindsay using new material and Mort's new charts ... an exciting concept that was later scrapped as an album release due to the consensus that she was not at her best vocally.

It still made an exciting album when released many years later."

The Summer Of Love Tour

While Hippies were congregating in San Francisco for the Summer Of Love, Judy Garland was touring the country spreading her own brand of love. The tour was a great artistic and financial success.
Garland is pictured here with her children, Lorna and Joe (Luft), who also appeared oin the on the tour. Lorna sang and Joey played the drums. Big sister Liza Minnelli joined them on the closing night of their run on Broadway.

Per David Price, "April 15, 1964 ... a City National Bank check signed by Judy was drawn on her Kingsrow account to pay the fees to her Beverly Hills accounting firm, Edward Traubner and Co.

At this point all of her financial matters were handled through the Kingsrow account [both business and personal expenses], with Traubner sorting things out for tax purposes."

On This Day In Herstory (April 14, 1967)

Per David Price, "April 14, 1967 ... camera tests for her role as Helen Lawson in VALLEY OF THE DOLLS. While being dropped from the film was a personal embarrassment and a career slight, Judy was saved from being a part of this film.

The producers were clearly trying to trade on her name and the fact that one of the central characters was in fact based on Judy. It is hard to imagine her playing the hard-edged, tough Helen Lawson ... and whatever happened to cause her removal was in the end a blessing from my point of view. But was Judy down for the count? Not hardly. Within a couple of months she was on a concert tour that would essentially carry her through the rest of 1967, garnering many good reviews along the way."

Judy was all smiles for the cameras that night, but only a short time later Mark Herron moved out and they separated."

Per David Price, "April 8, 1967 ... at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills for an evening during which her friend, Marcella Rabwin, was honored. Mrs. Rabwin and her husband, Dr. Marc Rabwin, were friends of the Gumm family. Marcella, who had been an assistant to David O. Selznick on GONE WITH THE WIND, became a prominent Los Angelean who was very active in local philanthropy. Pictured in this snapshot are Tom Green to her left, Desi Arnaz leaning in toward her on her right, and Joe Luft [partially obscured] behind her right shoulder.
