LIZA WITH A KNEE

The 65-year-old actress-and-singer is the daughter of Hollywood film director Vincente Minnelli and Judy Garland, who played lead character Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

Liza, who has undergone surgery to replace both her knees and hips, has joked that her 'false' joint replacements have left her confused about which fictional character she is the child of.

'Between the false hips and false knees ' from here up I am Dorothy's daughter and from here downwards I'm Tin Man's kid,' she laughed.

Liza has insisted that being the daughter of Hollywood royalty wasn't as easy as people assume. The raven-haired star's family life was ordinary and sometimes reminded her of a 'factory' because of the regimented routine.

'What people don't understand about Hollywood is that they worked. Everybody's family, everybody I knew, ouR parents got up in the morning and they went to work and we went to school,' she explained in an interview with BBC Breakfast. 'You came back, had dinner and went to bed. They had to get up at 5.30am. It's a factory. It's like the coalmines. Everybody goes to the coalmines.'

The legendary star has recently put together her latest record, Confessions, and has previously admitted she recorded the album from the confines of her bedroom after recovering from her most recent knee replacement surgery. Each song allows the star to reminisce about her former lovers.

'Do you ever think about the first person you fell in love with? Do you remember the song of your first dance? Each song [on the album] reminds me of a different time in my life and the wonderful men I've known,' she explained.

Liza is happy with her life right now. The iconic star, who has been married and divorced four times, is single and that's the way she intends it to be for the foreseeable future.

i'm happy and healthy. I'm not married. I'm single and I'm not dating anybody. It's not me! I'm so happy,' she gushed.
