NEW FILES POSTED TO THE YAHOO GROUP (for the week of July 24, 2011)

A JUDY MOMENT
As chosen by group member Martha (our Hoohah of the week). Judy doesn't just put this one in the pocket, she starts there!

BING AND ROSIE # 386
Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney are back with another episode of their CBS radio show. Rosie seems to be an especially good humor despite having had the indignity of singing about a beverage called SQUIRT. Other songs include Keep It Gay, The Cockeyed Mayor, Summertime, Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me, Don't Take Your Love From Me. Original air date: August 22, 1961.

DUET OF THE WEEK
Joni Mitchell and James Taylor create a little magic.

ENCORE
Take a bow, Amy Winehouse.

JUDY AT THE PALEY CENTER
With a nod to the soul stirring events that are currently taking place at The Paley Center in New York, here are some highlights from Judy's first four television specials.

JUDY GARLAND IN CONCERT
Live in Hartford, CT, October 20, 1967. Judy's second night from this run has been posted here before, but this is the internet debut for the opening night show. Lucky for us the recording being shared is taken directly from the master (which has surprisingly good sound for an audience recorded vintage bootleg of this type). As Judy's (rough) voice warms up she get's adventuresome and tries to croon and belt and growl, and the notes that she doesn't bend and reshape she holds forever.

SUMMER OF SONG #9
Judy Garland and friends trip the light fantastic. Featuring Sam Cooke, Wing, Fred Astaire, Nina Simone, Blossom Dearie, and others.

SUNDAY MORNING SPECIAL
Jerry Lee Lewis live in Holland, 1972.

WHERE JUDY PLAYED
Dakota Staton at the Newport Jazz Festival (the complete set)
