The Dean took exception to the way some extras were dressed. He thought they looked on the "scruffy" side, and since they were wearing the uniform of his school he felt compelled to raise an objection. This caused a few tense moments between the Dean and Neame and filming was temporarily halted, but they quickly worked things out and movie making resumed.
