HERE'S YOUR HAT

End Of The Rainbow is closing early, August 19, to be exact.
Apparently that Tony Awards appearance DID kill the show after all
(but truth be told the ticket sales for the show were never impressive to begin with).

Unfortunately for California the show is still scheduled to open in L.A. early next year and there is talk of a movie version starring Tracie Bennett (god no)

(oh god no).

  4. Actually I hope they do make a movie so that the world can see what a washed up doped up hag Garland was by the time of her death. Nothing to celebrate here.

  6. I guess you saw the play, and there's the rub. Outside of naming one of it's characters Judy Garland, that play had nothing to do with Judy. It's mostly fiction performed by an over the top and graceless performer.
Why so hateful? Is there something in the air? Is it the economy? Or did Judy do something to you that has made you so mean spirited towards her? People seem really on edge lately. Yesterday I had to delete several posts because they were so venemous towards someone. And the ironic thing was they were about somebody I despise, and you'd think I'd enjoy them. But these comments were just too disgusting, and they actually made me pity the recipient. Let's not start that up again, expecially with Judy as the target.

  8. I think the nasty comment made by 'anonymous' should also be removed...I volunteer to go to his house and do it personally. With a baseball bat.

  9. Well I did see the play, have read all the books and seen the documentaries. I think they all back me up. I'm not denying her inestimable talent, why would I be reading such a blog if I did. But the last years of her life were a trainwreck. How can that be denied?

  10. Nobody said that the last few years of Judy's life weren't a sporadic mix of ups and downs, on and off addiction and unfortunate circumstances. But you won't find Judy's story in End Of The Rainbow. That play just makes things up and makes her out to be something she wasn't. if they had just told the truth they would have had all the drama, sadness, humor, ego, heartbreak, and all the other elements that go into a good story. But instead they created a showcase for a shamelessly exploitive and manic performance for Tracie Bennett.
I thought your calling Judy a "washed up doped up hag" was ungallant, unfair and unkind, and it just makes me sigh to see that there is so little compassion and decency left in the world.
