On this day in herstory Judy Garland was holding a press conference in the Versailles Room of the St. Regis Hotel in New York.
Judy was announcing her signing with 20th Century Fox to appear in the role of Helen Lawson in the movie version of Jacqueline Susann's Valley Of The Dolls.
Garland would live to regret her decision to join the cast of this movie and was (thankfully) released from her contract when she and the film makers had creative differences.
